Steel-cut oats are whole grain groats that have been chopped into pieces, which gives them a chewier texture and a nuttier flavor when compared to rolled oats. The method of slow cooking allows the oats to absorb the flavors of caramel and apples, creating a delightful combination. The sweet and buttery notes of caramel perfectly complement the tartness of diced apples, resulting in a nourishing meal that honors traditional breakfast dishes while bringing a modern twist. This recipe is not only satisfying but also packed with essential nutrients.
