Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast, diced
  • 200g plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 200ml coconut milk or cream
  • 300g basmati rice

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, chili powder, cumin, coriander, garam masala, and salt. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.
  2. Heat a skillet and add butter. Sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add tomatoes and cook until softened.
  3. Transfer the onion and tomato mixture into the crockpot. Add marinated chicken and mix well.
  4. Pour in coconut milk or cream. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  5. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, cook basmati rice according to package instructions.
  7. Once the chicken is done, stir in additional cream if desired and adjust seasoning.
  8. Serve hot with basmati rice, naan, or a side of yogurt.
