Ingredients

  • 2 veal shanks (about 1 kg)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 250 ml white wine
  • 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • Cherry tomatoes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the veal shanks with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the shanks until browned on all sides.
  3. Transfer the shanks to the crockpot.
  4. Add diced onions, minced garlic, and chopped carrots to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Pour in the white wine and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  6. Add the wine mixture to the crockpot along with crushed tomatoes, thyme, and rosemary.
  7. Stir to combine and cover the crockpot.
